It has been reported that Malta received 174,715 tourists in July 2012, a record for the month. This follows record numbers in April, May and June. When calculated as tourist nights these numbers represent an 8.2% increase over July 2011.
Maltas National Statistics Office estimated spending for July to be in excess of €190 million. An increase of 10% over July 2011.
Tourist figures for August have not yet been released, but the numbers of passengers passing through Malta airport suggest another record will be broken. 461,153 people passed through the airport in August 2012, up by 7.9%.
